It was a great game vs Stoneham in Stoneham. It was much different atmosphere than the Ice Palace noise-wise. The fans wee still there for the team and the team looked good, pulling out a 4-2 win against a strong Stoneham team. Goals scorers were Neil Pandolfo, Dan Sullivan, Peter Milinazzo, and Ryan Collins . This is a team with skill and they will continue to use it throughout the year. The Red Devils (4-0-1) will travel to Belmont on Saturday for a 2:30 contest.

Boys Hockey Routs Reading 8-0, Raises Last Year's Banner
Blog Post By Grant Gough:
It was a huge win for the boys tonight over Reading by the score of 8 to 0. The team came out knowing it was going to be a fight but took it to the Rockets by jumping to a 3-0 lead at the end of the first period and never letting up. Neil Pandolfo paced the offense with a hat trick while Once Chris Russo posted his second straight shutout in goal.
After the first period, the Red Devils enjoyed a nice ceremony to raise last year's championship banner. For a look at the ceremony check out the clips on the Burlington High Principal's Blog.
This year's squad is starting to look like it has the potential to be a great team as well. They will take on Stoneham on Wednesday.

BHS Boys Hockey Downs Billerica 6-3
Post By Grant Gough:
Chris Russo had another solid game in net. With a few starters sidelined, it was a great game to test the team's depth. Come watch the Devils (1-0-1) take on Melrose this Wednesday at the Ice Palace in their home opener.
BHS Boys Swimming
Post By Coach Papagno:
On 12/16/2009 the BHS Boys Swim / Dive Team was suppose to face off against Belmont HS in a duel meet. However; due to issues with Belmont's pool this meet was postponed. On 12/18/2009 the boys faced off against Haverhill HS. at Shawsheen Tech's pool. Each swimmer came very prepared for this contest and I was able to see a terrific effort in all of them They were very enthusiastic and worked as a team. From the first even to the last I saw a, "Can Do" attitude with each of them. There were many stand outs in this meet. To name a few ....
In the 200 Medley Relay - Jay Baia, Nick Rose, Captain's Shane Ryan and Ryan Gilpin blazed a path for others to follow with a time of 1:59.09. This is only three seconds away from North Sectional Championship qualification time.
In the 50 Free Style - Shane Ryan took first place with a time of 24.59 a personal best.
In the 100 Butterfly event - Ryan Gilpin narrowly missed first place by one half of a second with a personal best time of 1:04.19. Ryan performed this event like a truck going through a wall. His effort was extraordinary and I only see him getting faster and stronger as the season goes.
In the 100 Free style event - Nick Rose took second place in this even with a time of 59.47 another personal best. Not bad for the first meet of the year.
The 200 Free Style Relay event - The team of Jon Dirusso, Shane Ryan, Ryan Gilpin, and Nick Rose took first place with an outstanding time of 1:45.65. Missing North Sectional Qualifying time by three (3) seconds. (This time they vow to break by the end of the season.)
In the 100 Breast Stroke event - Captain Shane Ryan placed first with a time of 1:12.08.
Although this team had a great first meet of the year. We lost to the score of Haverhill 101 - Burlington 74. Our next meet will be 12/22/2009 at 4 pm. We will be hosting Andover HS at the Shawsheen Tech. pool @4 PM.
As their Head Coach I am very proud of what they have accomplished in such a short time. I know it is only the first meet of the long season. However; they are looking to be a strong team with a great amount of potential. Happy Holidays and always.... "Go Big Red."

Boys Hockey Team Battles To Tie With Winchester In Opener
Post By Grant Gough -
The season opening game last night against Winchester was so intense it was an unbelievable experience. The crowd started filling in around 5:45 and the team took the ice around 5:50 with everyone screaming and yelling for the team.
The game did not disappoint as every minute of the up and down game was intense. The Devils looked good as senior Neil Pandolfo scored two goals while senior Chris Russo stood on his head throughout the contest with some incredible saves.
The entire team put forth a great performance, taking every minute like it was their last game. Fortunately, it was just their first and they have 19 regular season games left. The next game is Saturday night at 8 p.m. in Billerica. Get on the bandwagon early! The team is going to have a great season.
