BHS Boys Track 4x800 Team Highlights Big Day At Division 3 Championships With Meet Record

Fifteen members of the boys indoor track team competed in the M.I.A.A. Division III State Championships yesterday at the Reggie Lewis Track in Roxbury.

Top honors went to the 4 x 800-meter relay team of Trevor Dutton, Brian Savage, Gideon Kasirye, and David Taranto who led from start to finish, winning their state championship in 8:17.44 and setting a new meet record.

Taranto also medaled in the 1000-meter run, finishing 4th in 2:38.64. Takunda Muzembe medaled with a 6th place finish in the long jump, leaping a personal best 20 feet.

Other BHS athletes competing were Ben Cao in the mile (4:53.80), Wes Warnock in the 55-meter hurdles (8.55), David Perloff (10:21.06) and Evan Mericer in the 2 mile (10:34.77), Joe Hoffman (44' 1.5")<>

The 4x800 team, Taranto in the 1000, and Muzembe in the long jump will all compete again this Friday in the All-State Championship.
